Be-6PLO - anti-submarine defense aircraft. It differed from the basic version by the absence of a stern firing system; in its place, a magnetically sensitive block of an aviation magnetometer was installed. To detect submarines in a submerged position, a system of sonar buoys (RSL) was placed. On the Be-6PLO, in the search version, the RSL was installed on 16 external hardpoints. When performing strike missions, cassettes with depth charges were hung in their place, each of which contained 57 bombs.
Be-6 (according to NATO codification: Madge) is a multi-purpose flying boat developed by the Central Design Bureau of Marine Aircraft Construction (TsKB MS) at Aviation Plant No. 31 (now TANTK named after G. M. Beriev). Tasks performed: long-range maritime reconnaissance, patrolling the coasts, bombing, carrying and dropping torpedoes, dropping troops (up to 40 people), laying minefields, transporting goods. The aircraft was equipped with special equipment for flights at night and in adverse weather conditions. It was mass-produced, 123 copies were produced.
