Tu-134UBL (according to NATO codification: Crusty-B) is a training aircraft developed at the Tupolev Design Bureau in the early 1980s on the basis of the Tu-134 passenger liner.
The aircraft was adopted by the Air Force and Navy of the Armed Forces of the USSR in 1982. It continues to be used in the Russian Air Force for training cadets to fly the Tu-22M3 and Tu-160. It is also used to maintain the skills of combatant pilots in order to reduce the consumption of the flight resource of combat aircraft. In 1982, the Tu-134UBL was filmed as an experimental S-14 aircraft in the film Tenderness for the Roaring Beast.
Tu-134UBL Training simulator for Tu-22M and Tu-160 pilots. The aircraft is distinguished by a special design of the forward fuselage, similar to the Tu-22M and Tu-160 bombers. One Tu-134UBL was converted into Tu-134UBK and several more into Tu-134UBKM.
