Tu-134A - the first serial modification. The aircraft was produced from April 1970 to 1980. The Tu-134A was equipped with more advanced D-30 engines of the second series with reduced fuel consumption and thrust reverse, due to which the brake parachute was no longer needed, and an auxiliary power unit (APU) TA-8 was installed in the rear fuselage, where the parachute was located. . In addition, the Tu-134A fuselage became longer by 2.1 m, the number of passenger seats increased to 76. Part of the Tu-134A was released with the Groza-134 radar, as a result of which the navigator's workplace was moved to the pilot's cabin and was in the aisle . These aircraft acquired the appearance characteristic of the Tu-134B.
