MiG-9l “FC”-in accordance with the Decree of the Council of Ministers of the USSR No. 2923-1200 of August 2, 1948 and by order of MAP No. 607 of August 14, 1948, the development of the Kometa aircraft was specified. OKB-155 was prescribed to develop an airplane aircraft, and SB-1 control system and guidance for it.
To work out new technologies, in Mikoyan Design Bureau, on the basis of the mass MiG-9, a double flying Laboratory of MiG-9L (FC FC) was built. The aircraft was completely dismantled on the aircraft, the second cabin for an engineer-operator of the guidance system and two radars that were part of this system were added. The radar radar was located in a fairing over the air intake, its receiving antennas were located in the front edge of the wing to the left and to the right of the pilot's cab. The second radar, acceptable, was located in a fairing at the top of the keel.
The laboratory was built on May 14, 1949, and the first flight under the control of the test pilot A.N. Chernoburov took place on June 27. The tests ended on August 5, after which the MiG-9l was transferred to SB-1 to test special equipment. Subsequently, the MiG-9l FC was replaced by aircraft-analogues of the SDK on the basis of the MiG-15 and MiG-17 fighters.
