Let L-410 "Turbolet" (other names: L-410, Let-410, "Turbolet", "Cheburashka") is a light multi-purpose twin-engine aircraft for local air lines (IL). Developed in 1966-1967 by the design bureau of the Czechoslovak aircraft factory Let Kunovice (now the Czech factory Aircraft Industries). Designed for operation on unprepared unpaved, grassy, snowy areas, as well as on airfields with short runways. Able to carry up to 19 passengers or 1800 kg of cargo over a distance of up to 1500 km. It uses American GE H80-200 engines (GE Aviation Czech s.r.o), after certification of the Russian VK-800 turboprop engine (Ural Civil Aviation Plant JSC and UEC-Klimov JSC) it is planned to install it.
Starting from 1969, 1104 L-410 aircraft of various modifications were built (most of them - L-410 UVP), 862 of them were delivered to the Soviet Union and were actively used for the transport of passengers and cargo on local airlines. By the beginning of 1992, after the collapse of the USSR, about 750 L-410 aircraft remained in the Soviet Union, a significant part of which remained at the airports of the former Soviet republics.
In the late 1980s, the production of L-410 UVP-E20 modification aircraft began, which since that time have been produced in the amount of about 200 units and delivered to more than 30 countries of the world. In 2010, development began, and in 2018, mass production of the L-410 family of the latest modification, the L-410 NG, began.
As of 2012, more than 400 L-410s were in operation worldwide. The Russian commercial fleet for 2017 was six L-410 UVP-E units and twenty-seven L-410 UVP-E2 units.
In November 2018, the first L-410 aircraft was produced in Russia, assembled on the basis of the Ural Civil Aviation Plant (UZGA) in Yekaterinburg. The UZGA assembly shop with an area of 12.5 thousand m² allows serial production of L-410 up to 20 aircraft per year.
