The main race car of the USSR in the late 1980s - early 1990s. The model "-21M" was almost identical in design to the prototype "Estonia-21" R. Sarapa, differing in minor details. The first copy of "Estonia-21M" in 1983 was given to T. Napa. By the 1984 season, three more samples were manufactured. These four pre-production cars were intended for members of the national team (in addition to Napa, T. Asmer, A. Soots and W. Põld were also performing on them) and were therefore hand-made, with extensive use of light alloys. As a result, their mass decreased by 15 kg compared to the Sarapov prototype - up to 420 kg. In 1985, TOARZ began serial production of the "-21M" model, but lightweight alloys were not used for production because of their deficiency and processing complexity. As a consequence, the mass of serial copies averaged 460 kg. At the same time, the production of cars for the members of the national team continued to be individualized. All cars produced belonged to the formula "East"; as the liberalization of its technical requirements, the engine power (VAZ-21011, VAZ-2105) gradually grew - from 90-95 liters. from. in the early 1980's. up to 110-115 liters. from. in the late 1980s.
