A-7 is a Soviet two-seat wing-type autogyro with a three-blade rotor, developed by N. I. Kamov. The world's first combat autogyro and the first mass-produced rotary-wing aircraft in the USSR.
The first apparatus was built in April 1934 at the experimental designs plant at TsAGI. In May, the gyroplane was transported to the airfield for ground engine racing and runs. On September 20, 1934, the first flight was made. Testing of the A-7 ended in December 1935. But this did not prevent the gyroplane from participating in the aviation parade in honor of Aviation Day on August 18, 1935.
The autogyro had an M-22 air-cooled engine with a capacity of 480 hp. with., which allowed him to reach a maximum speed of 218 km / h. The pulling propeller had two blades, the pitch of which could be changed on the ground. The rotor (main rotor) before takeoff was spun by a mechanical drive system from the main engine, which reduced the takeoff distance before takeoff. Takeoff weight was 2300 kg; full load - 800 kg; flight duration - 4 hours; practical ceiling - 4700 m.
